Giovanni Trapattoni is one of the favourites for the Lazio job - should it become available.

The 74-year-old recently hinted about possible roles in the USA or Japan or even for a team at the 2014 World Cup.

But he is currently being linked with Lazio.

The Serie A club are struggling down in 10th this season and current head coach Vladimir Petkovic is believed to be in a precarious position. Petkovic has also been linked with the Switzerland job after next year's World Cup as Ottmar Hitzfeld retires.

The Rome side were beaten 4 - 1 by Hellas Verona yesterday, piling pressure on Petkovic. 

Trapattoni is a hugely popular figure in his homeland due to his exploits at club level.
