Giovanni Trapattoni has named Anthony Pilkington in his 28 man squad for the upcoming fixtures with Spain, England, Georgia and Faroe Islands. There is no place however for Darron Gibson, while Kevin Doyle misses out as he is due to undergo an operation. Richard Dunne and Ciaran Clark are also absent due to injury, while Damien Delaney returns to the squad.
Several Irish players have tasted success in recent weeks and subsequently find themselves as part of Trapattoni's squad. The Hull City trio of David Meyler, Paul McShane and Robbie Brady all secured promotion with their club, while James McCarthy lifted the FA Cup with Wigan on Saturday. All four are included in Trapattoni’s squad.
