Reports this morning suggest that Jose Mourinho could be on the brink as Spurs manager.

Writing in The Telegraph, Matt Law says that the playing squad are 'losing patience' with the Portuguese.

The Londoners missed the chance to move into the Premier League's top four at the weekend.

They were held to a 2-all draw at Newcastle on Sunday after a late equaliser from Joe Willock.

Tottenham are now in sixth, three points off West Ham in fourth position.

After the game, Mourinho was heavily critical of his players.

A poor run of form - including a Europa League capitulation to Dinamo Zagreb - has brought his tenure at the club under increased scrutiny.

Law reports in The Telegraph that RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann could be in line to take the managerial role at Tottenham if Mourinho was to head for the exit door.

Speaking on Saturday after their loss, he said he did not see what the qualities required from his players 'in every position'.

"It was not a problem of fight, it was not a problem of attitude, the players wanted to win but I have to be honest and say I saw things on the pitch, not in terms of attitude but in terms of profile, vision, balance, which belongs to the top players, I didn't see in every position.

"If I analyse the performance separated from so many mistakes that lead to instability and instability leads to hope in the opposition if I want to analyse it separate from that, I think we were very good in some moments,  but I cannot do it.

"I cannot separate the game from these moments of instability and that's the reason why we didn't the game.

"I don't want to go very deep on my analysis because I feel that what I feel, what I think, what I want to say cannot be with you, it can only be in the dressing room."

Spurs face two important league fixtures in the coming weeks.

They host Manchester United on Sunday before making the trip to Everton five days later.
