Confidence is really flowing in Brazil's veins after the 2014 World Cup hosts thrashed South Africa 5 - 0 in Johannesburg last Wednesday.

BBC South American football expert Tim Vickery joined us on the line, as he does every Tuesday, and he can see the pieces falling into place for the Selecao.

"Brazil are looking very impressive indeed as they have done ever since they found the blend. Remember, Brazil did not have to go through World Cup qualification which is a double-edged sword. It means you're automatically there but you also don't have those competitive games to whip your team into shape," explained Tim.

"It was an old squad that went to South Africa four years ago and obviously rebuilding work needed to be done. Poor old Mano Menezes the previous coach got the dirty work and results and Brazil's credibility suffered. Then in walks Scolari and he has just put the pieces together. You could see it happening in those two friendlies against England and France just before the Confederations Cup. You could see the pieces start to fit together and then suddenly you had a force of nature on your hands."

Tim explained how the Confederations Cup crystalized Luiz Felipe Scolari's starting XI and analyzed the tactical experiments and variations which have been added to Brazil's armoury over the past eight months.

Tim also gave us an insight into Brazil striker Fred who has all the talent to be a top striker if he took things more seriously.

He also spoke to us about the curiosity of Brazil's players changing kit at half-time in the South Africa friendly for "cynical" corporate reasons.

Tim went on to review Argentina's goalless draw with Romania and the performance of Lionel Messi who vomited on the pitch - not for the first time.
