Shamrock Rovers may have already drawn 0-0 with Progrès Niederkorn from Luxembourg on Tuesday night, but the Europa League begins in earnest tonight for the Irish sides.

Compared to recent years, The League of Ireland are represented by four sides in the competition. The League qualified for one of the three Fair Play spots and as last years Fair Play winners UCD will take the spot despite being relegated.

The Students face F91 Dudelange from Luxembourg in the UCD Bowl at 7.45pm. Its their first time in the competition and first appearance in Europe since 2000.

Cork City are back in Europe for the first time in seven years. John Caulfield's side welcome KR Reykjavík to Turners Cross at 7.45pm. Speaking to the clubs website about their opponents, Caulfield said; "We would see them as being a similar team to ourselves; they are defensively strong and don’t concede many goals. They play a similar system, to us and they have couple of good playmakers in the middle of the park, so we expect a very tight affair over the two games.”

St Patrick's Athletic have travelled to Latvia for their clash with Skonto Riga. The Lativans have lost to Derry City and Irish League side Portadown in the past five years. That game kicks off at 5pm tonight.
