Thousands lined the streets of Limerick on Wednesday night to pay tribute to Anthony Foley.

Foley's remains arrived in Shannon Airport, and were brought to his home in Killaloe, Co. Clare, but not before one final stop outside the gates of Thomond Park.

The 42-year-old played in Thomond Park for both club and province. The hearse carrying Foley's remains stopped outside the Shannon RFC gates outside the stadium. Throughout the 1990s Foley was part of the team that won numerous AIL titles.

As the funeral cortege arrived outside the stadium, a emotional rendition of the Shannon anthem 'There Is An Isle' was sang by the crowd, as Foley was given a round of applause.

His funeral will take place in his hometown of Killaloe on Friday afternoon. Munster fans will return to Thomond Park on Saturday, to remember the former player and head coach, as the team play Glasgow Warriors in the Champions Cup.
