Bayern Munich's World Cup winning forward Thomas Muller says he turned down an "astronomical" offer to join Manchester United this summer.
The German international had been tipped to link up with manager Louis van Gaal again.
Tabloid Bild asked him if he United had made him an offer, and he replied: "I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer. The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me."
Van Gaal was the manager who established Muller in the Bayern first team in 2009 but the Germany striker recently signed a contract extension with the German champions, and says he preferred to stay there rather than earn more money elsewhere.
