Ahead of a spooky Halloween weekend of Premier League football, will curses be broken and spells be cast in a number of big fixtures?

Klopp will be hoping to start a new run of results with his Liverpool side, history is against Sam Allardyce , and the unstoppable force of Jamie Vardy's scintillating form against the immovable object of West Brom's love of clean sheets.

Liverpool's poor record at Stamford Bridge

You have to go back to 2011 to find the last time that Liverpool were able to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, thanks to a late goal which came from Glen Johnson, capping off their third consecutive win against them at the time.

Since then, this fixture has been a lot more unkind to the Merseyside team, and they haven't beaten them in the league since then, with three losses and three draws for their record.

Sunderland's short lived new manager bounce

Sam Allardyce will be hoping that he can buck the trend when it comes to the new manager bounce that Sunderland go through after the Tyne-Wear derby.

While they do win that particular game with startling regularity, they go on to lose the following game with equal consistency.

After beating Newcastle in October 2013 they went on to lose 1-0 to Hull in the next game; they followed up a win against Newcastle in February 2014 by pullinf a 2-0 loss to Hull out of their bag of surprises; following a derby win in December 2014 they then lost 3-1 to Hull (again); and finally after beating Newcastle in April of this year, they followed that result up with a 4-1 loss against Crystal Palace.

Thankfully, they're not playing Hull this time, but a trip to take on Everton, who need a result after two defeats on the bounce, does not look like a good matchup for them. Expect Allardyce to go full on defensive, but if they play like they did in the first half against Newcastle last week, the match will more than likely be over by half time.

Wayne Rooney

The stats were touted about last week in the wake of a very disappointing performance against Manchester City, and there will no doubt be further speculation on Rooney after he missed a penalty during the week against Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup, but the game against City was not the only time he failed to muster a shot this season.

In United's wins over Aston Villa and Southampton, he similarly failed to register a single shot in his time on the pitch.

When it comes to getting touches of the ball, Rooney's numbers do not make for very pleasant reading either. Against Everton (a game in which he did score) he had the joint most poor touches (3), while he had the same figure in the game against City.

However, his lack of touches in the box (another zero against City) shows that the problem might also be further back the field, and that may be why Van Gaal is giving him some leeway.

Norwich makes a happy hunting ground for City

Last week, we predicted that the Manchester Derby would produce plenty of goals and were duly shown to be spoofing, but once again, the historical evidence points towards this being a high-scoring match.

In the last two seasons that these teams have met in the top flight, there has only been one 0-0 draw, while the other matches have all produced at least five goals: a 3-4 home loss for Norwich in December 2012, a win for the Canaries at the Etihad by a scoreline of 2-3 in May 2013 and City gave them a 7-0 hammering a few months later in November.

Alex Neil's side have also conceded 12 goals in the last five games, while before their 0-0 with their cross town neighbours, Manchester City had scored 11 goals in two games.

Vardy's goals vs. Pulis' clean sheet

Something has got to give this weekend, either Jamie Vardy's goal scoring record or West Brom's run of clean sheets will meet an end.

Vardy has seven goals in as many games in the Premier League, and would join a very elite club were he to score eight in eight, while West Brom have two clean sheets on the bounce, bringing their total to six for the season. Pulis prides himself on that defensive solidity, so the league's top scorer can expect a difficult day at the office.

Swansea have Arsenal's number...kind of.

Since the Swans made it to the top flight in England, their record against Arsenal has been fairly good. While Arsenal beat them early on in their first season in the Premier League thanks to a goalkeeping blunder from Michel Vorm, they've gone on to win four of their next seven meetings.

Wenger's side haven't beaten the Welsh team in their last three matches in the Premier League, and with a number of injuries to contend with, this fixture begins to look a lot trickier than it once did for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Bafétimbi Gomis has gone a few games without a goal, but clearly likes playing the Gunners, as he has scored the winner for Swansea the last two times these teams met.
