Europe have taken a 5 - 3 lead at the end of Day 1 of the Ryder Cup.
Paul McGinley's team had been down by 1 point after the opening fourballs earlier today, but took control of the tournament during this afternoon's foursomes, winning three-and-a-half of the four points on offer.
Jamie Donaldson and Lee Westwood completed a convincing victory over Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar in the lead out match, before Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson finished off an impressive opening day when they followed up their fourball victory this morning with a 2&1 win over Hunter Mahan and Zach Johnson.
Graeme McDowell and Victor Dubuisson also added a further point against Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley.
Sergio Garcia and Rory McIlroy managed half a point against Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker.
