Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has hit out at the video assistant referee after watching his side lose 3-1 to Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Harry Kane found the net in the first-half of the game of the Bramall Lane but a lengthy review judged that Lucas Moura had handled the ball in the build up when he was bundled to the ground.

That decision had been heavily criticised, with Sky Sports analyst Jamie Redknapp labelling it the "one of the worst decisions I have ever seen".

Mourinho was asked about the incident following the match and he feels VAR has taken away powers from the officials on the pitch in decision making:

"I think I cannot say what I feel. It's not the referee anymore. The man on the pitch is the assistant referee, The man and lady with the flags are now the assistants of the assistant referees.

"The referee should be the man on the pitch. We are going into a direction which is really bad for a good that is a beautiful game.

" But as a team we have to do better. We have to be mentally stronger to cope with what happened in the game.

"We cannot mentally die after Michael Oliver's decision. I know it's difficult to take."
