Academy Award winner Russell Crowe will be in Dublin next month to attend the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF). The Gladiator star will be in town to introduce his new film The Water Diviner, as well as participate in a Q&A with fan at the Savoy Cinema after the screening.

After the announcement, festival director Grainne Humphreys said:

“It’s a pleasure to welcome Russell to Dublin for the festival screening of The Water Diviner and present the film to his many Irish fans.”

“The Water Diviner is an impressive, beautifully shot epic war drama. Russell Crowe has created a powerful portrait of loss and redemption with fine performances, not least his own as lead.”

The Water Diviner tells the story of an Australian farmer, and water diviner, who travels to Istanbul after the World War One battle of Gallipoli in Turkey, to find out what happened to his three sons who went to fight in the war but have been reported as missing in action.

Today’s announcement comes after yesterday’s news that Kim Cattrall, of Sex and the City fame, will attend the festival to screen episodes of her new TV show Sensitive Skin.

This year is the 13th instalment of the Jameson Dublin Film Festival and it takes place over 10 days next month, from the 19th to the 29th of March. The full lineup is set to be announced on February 25th.

Tickets for the Water Diviner screening are on sale today, and can be bought at www.jdiff.com or at the festival Box Office which is now open Monday to Friday 11am - 5pm on 13 Lower Ormond Quay
