It is only a week now until the Oscars and the big finale of the annual awards season. And the Writers Guild of America awards offer some final hints at what films might walk away with prizes - as well as recognising some of the best writing across multiple mediums, of course.
This year's big WGA winners were The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game. Wes Anderson's script was awarded for best original screenplay, while Graham Moore's work on the Alan Turing biopic was deemed best adapted script.
It was not just films that were celebrated at the show, however. In terms of television, True Detective was named the best drama and new series, with Louie winning the best comedy award.
Louie's So Did the Fat Lady won the award for best comedy episode, with The Good Wife's Last Call deemed the best episodic drama.
Other winners on the night included Olive Kitteridge for best 'long form adapted', and an animation award for The Simpsons Lego episode Brick Like Me. And outstanding video game writing was also acknowledged as part of the awards, with acclaimed The Last of Us expansion Left Behind winning the award there for its writer Neil Druckmann.
