The Gaelic Players Association launch their Fair Play campaign later today, to encourage good behaviour by the player on the pitch. The Association's Chief Executive Dessie Farrell spoke to Ivan Yates on Newstalk Breakfast this morning.

The former Dublin player says the GPA wants to focus on "the great displays of sportsmanship" and by introducing an awards scheme will encourage the players even more on the field.

The scheme will be primarily used at county level, but Farrell hopes to see the mentality filter down to club and community levels.

Farrell told Ivan that the intricacies of the scheme have still to be finalised. A scheme similar to what is used in football, with Fair Play rankings for a lack of red and yellow cards.

The issue of drug testing was also spoken about after Monaghan football Thomas Connolly was banned for two years. Farrell thinks that drug use "is not a problem in the sport".
