But now, after a 30 year wait, we can finally look forward to the sequel.

Richard Donner hopes to reunite the original stars for the follow up, including Josh Brolin and Sean Astin best known for films like No Country for Old Men and The Lord of the Rings.

Donner, who directed Superman and the Lethal Weapon films, is now 86 and hasn't directed since he did 16 Blocks in 26 but his production company produces the X-Men films.
