Only people of a certain age will remember seeing The Goonies when it was released back in 1985.

But now, after a 30 year wait, we can finally look forward to the sequel.

The director of the eighties' cult film says the next installment is in the works.

Richard Donner hopes to reunite the original stars for the follow up, including Josh Brolin and Sean Astin best known for films like No Country for Old Men and The Lord of the Rings.

Corey Feldman and Kerri Green also starred in the original film. It was produced by Steven Spielberg and is often named as one of the best children's movies of all time.

Donner, who directed Superman and the Lethal Weapon films, is now 86 and hasn't directed since he did 16 Blocks in 26 but his production company produces the X-Men films.

The original Goonies movie was about a group of kids who find a pirate treasure map while trying to save their homes from demolition.
