It often gets compared to El Clasico, especially since PSG went down the Galactico route, so this weekend all eyes were on Le Classique between the Parisians and high-flying Marseille.

Tonight, we were joined on our Monday night European football slot by Ben Lyttleton to review the weekend's football on the continent and we started with the top of the table clash in Ligue 1.

Ben felt the tiredness that has afflicted Marseille recently seemed to affect Marcelo Bielsa's ten men in their 2 - 0 defeat to PSG and also questioned the decision to send off midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

"In truth, PSG pulled it back in the second half and were the better side," said Ben, who spoke about the pressure lifting on embattled PSG manager Laurent Blanc.

But he also noted tensions between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani who did not seem to be passing to each other.

"Whether it's they don't like each other or want to pass each other, it's something Blanc will want to sort out."

He also spoke about the title race in Serie A which looks ever more likely to be a two-horse race between Juventus and Roma who won 7 - 0 and 3 - 0 respectively this weekend, but also looked at the reason why Juve have been unable to transfer league form to the European stage.

There was also plenty of time to talk about Barcelona's poor performance in their 2 - 1 win over Almeria as concern continues to surround Luis Enrique's squad. But he noted one major positive.

"It was Suarez's best performance by far and we probably saw his best position as well, playing in the centre with Messi either on the right or just behind him. From that point of view, Barcelona can take some good lessons from there," said Ben, who also spoke about Borussia Dortmund's first league victory in an age - thanks to the generosity of Borussia Dortmund's Christoph Kramer.
