Arsenal overcame a second half red card for Olivier Giroud to edge QPR 2-1 at the Emirates.

The Gunners had taken the lead through an Alexis Sanchez header on 37 minutes, after the Chilean had seen his penalty attempt saved by keeper Rob Green earlier.

With Arsenal looking for a second after half-time, their task was made harder when Olivier Giroud was sent off for reacting with his head to a push by Nedum Onuoha.

But Tomas Rosicky gave Arsene Wenger's side breathing space, firing in with 25 minutes to go.

However, QPR got back into the match with 12 minutes to go when Charlie Austin blasted in a penalty after a tackle on Junior Hoilett by Mathieu Debuchy.

However, the ten-men hung on to make sure that QPR have lost all of their away games this season.
