This weekend sees an intriguing Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield.

The last encounter at the Emirates suggested that the Reds are still a little bit behind the current Top 3 but with excellent home form they could turn the tables on league leaders Arsenal.

However, Liverpool have been stung at Anfield by Southampton and Aston Villa and tonight Tony Barrett told us that manager Brendan Rodgers will have those results in the back of his mind as he prepares for the Gunners.

"I think Brendan Rodgers learnt some very important lessons in that Aston Villa first half. He admits himself that he was too aggressive in his tactics. I think Arsenal will press Liverpool and look to dominate possession. Liverpool will look to hit them on the break. It could be that Arsenal play like the home side and Liverpool like the away side which is something very different for Anfield," said Barrett who believes regularly getting Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge on the ball in dangerous areas could swing the game in the Reds' favour.

"But I just think this Arsenal side have shown so much resilience that they're capable of getting a result anywhere," added Barrett.

He pondered whether Liverpool will line out in a similar fashion to the most recent Merseyside derby with Sturridge cutting in from the left, Philippe Coutinho in the hole in front of Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard.

"That worked really well against Everton but Everton played into Liverpool's hands. Coutinho had his best game for the club in that role. But for him to repeat that against the Arsenal midfield is a big ask. It might be that Brendan Rodgers thinks about bringing in Joe Allen if Liverpool want to go a more possession-based game. But all the signs are that he'll go with Coutinho in front of Gerrard and Henderson."

Barrett also believes Arsenal can exploit a weakness on the left side of Liverpool's defence which is likely to be manned by Aly Cissokho and Kolo Toure who committed a serious error against West Brom last week.

"Arsenal just have to play their normal game. They don't have to do anything special. Arsene Wenger knows Toure and knows what his strengths and weaknesses are. He knows why he let him go. Toure is a defender who can be found wanting and he can give the ball away in dangerous situations."

But Barrett believes the game is so finely poised that the game is almost impossible to call, although he is just about edging towards Liverpool.
