Oliver Dingley has managed a Top 10 finish in the final of the Men's 3 metre springboard in Rio 2016.
The 23-year-old had already made history by becoming Ireland's first diver at an Olympic Games for 68 years.
And he put in a strong showing to finish eighth overall with a score of 442.90 for his six dives.
He scored highest with the Forward 2½ Somersaults 2 Twists which yielded a score of 81.60.
The gold medal went to Yuan Cao of China who finished with a score of 547.60.
Jack Laugher of Great Britain won the silver medal, while bronze went to Patrick Hausding of Germany, who finished 17.55 clear of Dingley.
