Steven Gerrard's time in Los Angeles may be coming close to the end already, after he revealed that he's considering hanging up his boots.

Writing in his Daily Telegraph column, the former Liverpool player stated that "nothing is 100 per cent certain yet, but this season at LA Galaxy could be my last as a professional footballer".

He added that he knows he's in "the twilight of my career" and that he has already been looking at obtaining the requisite qualifications to transition into coaching and management.

"I am starting my UEFA ‘A’ license shortly," said Gerrard, "and the Football Association are proving to be proactive and hugely encouraging in helping former players onto the coaching ladder".

The former England captain added that his focus is still on performing and winning with LA Galaxy in this coming Major League Soccer (MLS) season, but "by next winter I hope to have earned my badges and have given myself options".

Gerrard also joked that he could reconsider given some of the figures being talked about from the Chinese Super League, but highlighted that those huge transfer fees could be an issue for MLS, as players from the "Premier League who would once have looked to the USA will be looking to China instead".
