Emmanuel Adebayor was the sole scorer as Spurs beat Everton 1-0 at White hart Lane to go fifth in the Premier League table.

Adebayor scored a smart left foot volley midway through the second half, leaving Tim Howard stationary in the Everton goal. The striker had made full use of a quickly taken free kick that saw the ball lobbed over Everton’s defence and into Adebayor’s path.

Everton were the better side early on but Spurs made it an even contest as the game wore on. There were calls for an everton penalty in stoppage time as Seamus Coleman went down under a challenge from Etienne Capoue in the Spurs box but his protests were waved away.

The win moves Spurs above Everton into fifth, 3 points behind fourth paced Liverpool.
