The All Blacks showed the depth of talent in their squad as they managed to survive a fight back from Australia in the second half to retain the Webb Ellis trophy.

New Zealand put in a commanding performance early on to get a lead of 16-3 up  by the half-time break, a mountain that simply proved too tall for Michael Cheika's men to climb.

Although Australia fought back in the second half, New Zealand reached into the locker and produced a number of moments of real quality, in particular from Dan Carter, who made sure his team were on the right end of a 34-17 win.

The rugby world and other sporting stars have since taken to social media to pay tribute to the performance of Steve Hansen's side.
