Jordan Speith is targeting an improvement in his scoring irons as he looks to regain the world number one spot he held in 2015.
The young Texan won two majors in 2015: the Masters and the U.S. Open, which took him to the pinnacle of the sport.
However he endured a rough 2016 including a disastrous collapse as he attempted to defend his Masters title at Augusta. Leading as he entered the back nine on Sunday, Spieth shot bogeys at 10 and 11 before a quadruple-bogey on the par three 12th all but ended his chances of retaining his title.
He even had the unfortunate ceremonial obligation of presenting Danny Willett with his new green jacket after the Englishman eventually won by three shots.

Speaking to pga.com, Spieth said: “From that yardage, (from the rough he averaged 43 feet to be ranked 126th on tour) when I dissected the stats with Cameron, we looked at that yardage as big room for improvement for this season,” Spieth said.
“That was one area of the game that took a little bit of a hit this past season. I just wasn't as good with my wedge, 9-, 8-, 7-iron, and especially on kind-of shorter par 3s.
"I didn't play the short par 3s extremely well, because I think I was just trying to do a little bit too much, given they were more scoring par 3s,” he added.
