Spain’s Euro 2008 winning coach Luis Aragones has passed away at the age of 75.
The former Spain, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid manager passed away at the Centro de Madrid clinic in Madrid early this morning.
Aragones led Spain to the Euro 2008 crown which both dispelled the image of the nation as underperformers on the international scene and started a period of unprecedented dominance in international football.
Aragones introduced the tiki-taka style of play to the Spanish national side. His side went out to eventual finalists France in the second round of the 2006 World Cup but went on to win Euro 2008 playing a style of football that left the rest of Europe floundering in Spain’s wake.
As a player Aragones played for real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, winning La Liga 3 times.
