There were more than 50,000 people registered for the New York marathon this year, from serious athletes in competition to those who simply wanted to see if they could complete the challenge.
While Stanley Biwott and Mary Keitany of Kenya won the male and female categories respectively (Keitany claiming her second win in a row) there was one competitor in the crowd who must surely win best costume.
The runner was dressed up in New England Patriots attire, wearing the jersey of Tom Brady and a mask to match, juggling a number of deflated footballs as he ran along the streets.

Top marks for multi-tasking and for the costume, although we have no word yet as to whether or not they actually made it to the end of the race still in character.
