Ole Gunnar Solksjaer wants to convince Cardiff City fans that he is the right man to take the club forward after he was unveiled as their new manager.
The former Manchester United striker has agreed a 12-month rolling contract to take over as successor to Malky Mackay, who was controversially sacked by the club just last month.
The Cardiff fans have staged protests over Mackay's departure and the stewardship for owner Vincent Tan.
But Solksjaer is hoping to change their minds.
The Norwegian will be given significant funds by Tan to spend on new signings in the current transfer window. But after negotiations with chairman Mehmet Dalman, Solksjaer says that he had no doubts about taking-on the job, stating that he will be "in charge of football matters".
He also denied that his former boss Alex Ferguson advised him against a move to Cardiff, describing the claims as "nonsense".
"I have had good contact with the gaffer. He has wished me all the best and given me some good advice as he always does," said Solskjaer.
