Sligo's Connacht senior football championship semi-final against Galway this Saturday has been thrown into disarray after the Yeats county confirmed multiple positive Covis-19 cases in their panel.

Paul Taylor's side are due to face Galway in just four days time, but have seen their numbers depleted, with more players waiting on the outcome of tests.

A statement this morning reads:

"Sligo GAA wish to confirm that a number of members of the Sligo football panel have unfortunately returned a positive Covid-19 test.

"The players in question are currently in isolation and following HSE guidelines as are a number of close contacts.

"The players are doing well. A number of the squad are currently awaiting further test results.

"Sligo GAA are currently liaising with GAA officials at Croke Park and Connacht GAA."

GAA president John Horan yesterday reiterated the message that postponements will be unavailable, given the shortened championship season, however the All-Ireland semi-finals and finals will be rearranged if needed.

The Connacht sem-finals take place this weekend, with the decider to follow on Sunday November 15th.

Two weeks ago, the Offaly senior hurlers were forced to give a walkover for their Christy Ring Cup tie with Kildare in similar circumstances.
