Sky Sports have announced that they are to broadcast live 3pm Saturday Premier League matches exclusively in Ireland from next season.
The news comes as a blow to Dublin based Setanta Sports who have broadcast Premier League games in that slot in recent years solely to Irish viewers.
Sky will now broadcast an extra 33 games per season to Irish viewers. Those matches will not be shown in Britain due to a blackout on live games shown on television on Saturdays between 2:45pm and 5:15pm.
As part of the Premier League broadcast package in the UK, there will also be live Premier League matches shown on Friday nights from next season.
