The Galway hurlers have received a blow, ahead of this weekend's National League meeting with Tipperary, with the news that James Skehill has announced that he has left the panel.

Selector Damien Curley says they tried to convince the goalkeeper to stay, but he would not change his mind, adding there is no specific reason for his departure.

Skehill left the panel on Friday ahead of the league game against Kilkenny.

Aidan Ryan has replaced him in the panel.
