Tim Sherwood has been appointed as the new manager of Aston Villa.

The former Tottenham caretaker has been handed a contract at Villa Park until 2018.

Sherwood succeeds Paul Lambert, who was sacked on after Villa dropped into the Premier League relegation zone.

The club are on a 10-game winless run and have only netted 12 league goals this season.
