The upsets continued at Wimbledon as women's third seed Maria Sharapova was knocked out in the second round

The Russian lost to Michelle Larcher de Brito in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Her opponent  is ranked at World 131 but Sharapova was not moving freely as she seemed to be affected by a hip injury.

Men's 6th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has become the latest player to have his championship ended by injury.

Tsonga was trailing Latvia's Ernests Gulbis by two sets to one when he was unable to continue with a knee injury.

The Frenchman was the seventh player to withdraw injured today after women's second seed Victoria Azarenka and Rafael Nadal's conqueror, Steve Darcis were among the others.
