Ireland's Shane Ryan has finished third in his heat for the 50 metre freestyle in Rio.

The swimmer posted a time of 22.88 in Heat 6 but it's not enough to advance to the semi-finals.

His time leaves him outside the Top 16. 

Andrii Govorov of Ukraine set the fastest time of the heats with a time of 21.49.
