It has been a season to remember for Shane Long at club level.

The Tipperary native has scored 13 goals for Southampton this season, including ten in the Premier League. That's the first time he has reached double figures in a league season in England's top-tier.

Despite not winning the club's official Player of the Year award earlier this week, Long has clearly done enough to impress the club's fans.

Local newspaper, the Southern Daily Echo has given Long their Player of the Year award, in a ballot that was voted on by fans. The striker joins Matt Le Tissier and Rickie Lambert as winners of the award.

Long joined Southampton in August 2014, on a four-year deal. This season, he has doubled his goal tally in the league, as the team remain with a chance of qualifying for the Europa League.

The 29-year-old will hope to continue that form into France this summer, at Euro 2016. Let's hope he does.
