Vladislav Kochergin opened the scoring after half an hour, his deflected effort took the ball past Hoops keeper Simon Madden to put the one-up at the break.

Both teams required water breaks to tackle the humidity in Calicut and the Airtricty League side struggled to adapt to the conditions.

Vitaliy Kireyev scored the second and final goal of the game in the second half, to take all three points in the opening Group B fixture.
