A Serbian first division player has handed in a transfer request after being threatened by his club's fans at gunpoint, according to reports.

FIFPro, the self-proclaimed worldwide representative organisation for all professional players, say that fans of Premier League club Novi Pazar threatened their left-back Zarko Udovicic with a gun after he missed a late penalty at FK Rad last Saturday.

The visitors subsequently lost 1-0.

On Monday, Udovicic was with team-mates at Pazar’s training ground when several hooligans allegedly stormed the dressing room and threatened the 27-year old with a gun.

FIFPro say Udovicic told Serbian newspaper Zurnal that 'the gun was held a meter from his head'.

"He could choose where he wanted to shoot me," said Udovicic. "He asked me whether I had set up the game with our club's management. I said I did not."

Udovicic has since decided he wants out of the club.

"Must we wait until some hooligan actually kills one of our players," was president of Serbian professional footballers' union Mirko Poledica's reported reaction.
