While Ireland will have players missing in midfield, Scotland have also had an injury setback ahead of tomorrow's Euro 2016 qualifier.

Crystal Palace midfielder James McArthur has been ruled out of the game with a calf injury.

The 27-year-old is a former club team-mate of James McCarthy at both Wigan and Hamilton, and his only international goal came a the Aviva Stadium against Northern Ireland in the 2011 Nations Cup.

Earlier, McCarthy and Glenn Whelan were both ruled out of the Irish squad after they failed to recover from a hamstring strain and a leg facture respectively.

The Irish players will have a final workout at Parkhead this evening, which will give Martin O'Neill a chance to decide on a new midfield pairing.
