Pope Francis is sure to have been delighted by the result of last night's Copa Libertadores final second leg.
The pontiff is a known and avid supporter of Argentinian club San Lorenzo and last night the Buenos Aires side ended a hoodoo which has long hung over the club.
One of the traditional members of Argentina's Big Five clubs (Boca Juniors, Independiente, River Plate and Racing Club are the others), they were the only member of that famed quintet to have never got their hands on the Copa Libertadores - the South American equivalent of the Champions League.
Last night they faced Paraguayn side Nacional, having drawn the first leg 1 - 1 away from home.
And last night in their Estadio Pedro Bidegain stadium, they sealed the deal with a penalty by Paraguayan midfielder Nestor Ortigoza to finally get their hands on their holy grail...
They become the eight Argentine club to win the trophy.
