Following rumours that Roy Keane could be contemplating a return to professional club management, the Cork born soccer icon has finally broken silence on what he plans to do.

Irish fans will be relieved to hear that Keane has declared his loyalty to the national side and will continue to work alongside Martin O'Neill for the qualification phase of the 2018 World Cup.

The Times today reported, that Keane had deliberated the possibility of relaunching his career in club management but has since suspended those ambitions. Speaking at an awards dinner in Dublin, Keane said:

'I probably shouldn’t have said what I did. Our contract takes us up to the summer and a lot depends on what Martin wants to do. If Martin wants me to stay on, it would be hard for me to say no. I’m a loyal person. Martin has great man-management skills. He knows his players and keeps it simple. And we generally see things the way the game should be played.'

The 44 year-old admitted that he is happy in the role he plays for Irish soccer but also said that club management remains a project he wants to pursue at some point in the future.

'The grass isn’t always greener. However, at some stage, I do want to get back in the ring and make the big calls (by becoming a manager again). However, that could be three or four years away. And you get more money as the manager!”
