Dundalk needed a late Richie Towell strike to give them a 1-0 win at home to local rivals Drogheda tonight.

The defending champions stay top of their SSE Airtricity Premier with that win.

Just three points behind Dundalk are Bohemians, who were 2-0 winners at home to Longford, thanks to goals from Dean Kelly and Adam Evans.

Cork are third following a scoreless draw away to St. Patrick's Athletic, while Shamrock Rovers were also held to a scoreless draw at Derry.

Sligo finally got their first win of the season with Dinny Corcoran's early strike giving them a 1-0 win away to Galway.
