Cork City and Shamrock Rovers are both back to within a point of league leaders Dundalk in the Airtricity League Premier Division.

With the Lilywhites back in action tomorrow, Cork and Rovers put pressure on the defending champions with commanding victories.

John O'Flynn got the opener for Cork, while Karl Sheppard scored a brace as the Leesiders beat Derry City 3-0 at Turners Cross.

Meanwhile, two goals from Michael Drennan helped Rovers to a 3-0 win over 10-man Galway United at Tallaght Stadium.

Earlier, managerless Bray Wanderers registered their first points of the season after a battling 3-1 win over Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds with David Cassidy scoring a hat-trick for the visitors.

Both sides also had a player sent off.

Ten-man Bohemians also grabbed a late winner through Mark Griffin to beat Drogheda United 1-0 at United Park.

In the First Division, Wexford Youths came away with a 1-0 win from their clash with Athlone Town.

The other two games finished in 2-2 draws as it finished honours even between UCD and Finn Harps and between Waterford United and Shelbourne.
