Preston North End goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann says Wayne Rooney apologised to him for diving to win a penalty during their FA Cup fifth round tie on Monday night.
The keeper told The Sun that Rooney said to him: “Sorry, it was my chance to get a penalty. I had to use that.”
The referee awarded Man Utd a penalty which Rooney dispatched to make it 3-1 with just seconds to go. The icident sparked controversy, with a heated debtate over if the striker had dived or not.
Stuckmann said he is sure it was not a penalty. "I say it clear: that was no penalty.
"I also believe if the situation had happened the other way around, one of our strikers against the United keeper, the ref wouldn't have given the penalty. I have no doubt about that."
