As Mario Balotelli reportedly arrives in Liverpool to finalise his €20 million deal to join Brendan Rodgers’ side, the Northern Irish manager has warned that no player would ever be allowed threaten the “fantastic environment” at Anfield.

With the deal close to closing the final sticking point is believed to be Liverpool’s requirement for Balotelli to sign behaviour clauses, designed to protect the club against the more extreme aspects of the striker’s sometimes erratic behaviour.

Rodgers did not mention the player by name when he spoke to the media on Friday afternoon, but he did says that there is an “extensive code of conduct” at the club.

“Every club will have a code of conduct,” Rodgers said.

“We have a fantastic environment and a great culture. Nothing will ever shake that."

Rodgers wouldn’t go into any further detail on the deal, saying:

“I can categorically tell you I can’t speak about it before the player has signed,” Rodgers said at a press conference.

“We always said we were working for another striker. If we can do a deal for anyone we will."
