Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has suggested Pepe Reina is unlikely to return to Anfield.
The Spain international is currently on loan at Napoli until the end of the season.
Rodgers says an open letter posted on Reina's personal website last summer praising the former Reds boss and now Napoli manager Rafa Benitez implies he does not want to come back to Merseyside.
"I was surprised at the letter. When you are a loan player I would expect that he should come back, but obviously Pepe made it very clear when he went to Napoli that he was looking to move," said Rodgers.
Benitez may be interested in tying Reina down to a permanent contract in Southern Italy.
