With the Airtricity League season getting underway pretty soon, our Tuesday night League of Ireland slot with Roddy Collins and Stuey Byrne will be returning.

And Roddy is enjoying life at the moment.

He will be starting his first campaign as Derry City manager and he is impressed by his new surroundings.

"There's no stone left unturned. Anything you require is put in place for you so it's a very professionally-run club. It's made by job really easy. All I have to do is go and recruit players and that's what I've been doing basically since I took over, looking at the squad that was there and retaining the ones that were required and letting the other ones go."

If anyone has been to see Derry City over the past couple of seasons, then they will have seen some of the best young players in the league.

Name-checking the likes of Michael Duffy and Patrick McEleney, Roddy is delighted by the young players at his disposal and also explained why he has brought in four experienced defenders.
