It is a cliché but a week is a very long time in football.
This time last week on Off The Ball, Roddy Collins found out that he would not be leading Athlone Town in next season's Premier Division.
But today it was revealed that he has been appointed manager of Derry City.
Roddy was on the show tonight and explained how the new role came about.
"Why Derry? I had a good chat with the chairman and looked at the squad and the potential. They haven't won the league since 1996 so it's a brilliant challenge," said Roddy.
"The other one I spoke to was Sligo in case Ian Baraclough was going to move on. But the people of Derry are really hungry for success. But it's like anywhere else in that people will only come if you're playing winning and attractive football. Looking at the squad, there is a good crop of young players."
