At the end of last weekend, FAI CEO John Delaney spoke about the intention of redeveloping Dalymount Park with the grant money earned from hosting Euro 2020 matches.

Once the home of Irish football, Tolka Park-based Shelbourne would also potentially share the upgraded stadium with Bohemians under the plan and Roddy Collins and Stuart Byrne think it will be "brilliant".

"Looking at this initially, this could be a fantastic opportunity and I might add, a once in a lifetime opportunity. I think we need to jump all over it," said Stuey, with Roddy also enthusiastically backing the proposals.

Stuey believes it also returns Shels nearer to their natural habitat

"Tolka was never Shel's home ground. They come from Ringsend in effect. You might argue that they've been lacking that natural home," said Stuey, who lined out for Shels during his career.
