Nicolas Roche bounced back from an early-stage crash to stay in contention after stage 9 at the Vuelta a España 2015.

Roche finished eight in the stage with a time of 4h 10' 26, 31 seconds behind stage winner Dumoulin. The result sees the Irishman now in fourth position, 1:07 back on Dumoulin.

Tom Dumoulin (Giant Alpecin) claimed back the Tour of Spain's red jersey with a brilliant display in which he outclassed Roche's team mate Chris Froome (Sky) and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha).

Froome's impressive ride sees him climb the rankings to 8th where he is aiming to achieve a historic Tour and Vuelta double, something that has never been done in the same season.
