Ireland captain Robbie Keane has urged the F.A.I to appoint a new manager in time for the next games.

Interim boss Noel King led his side to a 3-1 win over Kazakhstan in last night's final World cup qualifier at the Aviva but now fans must wait until September for the next competitive game.

But there is friendly against Serbia in March, while Ireland may take on some of the World Cup participants in warm-up games ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The LA Galaxy forward said the new boss needs to see what is available ahead of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Ireland are likely to be second seeds for the qualification process for that tournament.

Defender Richard Dunne has given his backing to Mick McCarthy to take over as manager.

The former boss is currently at Ipswich but has a lot of support to take over in time for the start of next years Euro 2016 qualifiers.
