Ireland look set to travel to New Jersey this summer to play the United States in a one-off test match.

According to The Guardian, the team will stop off on the American east coast for the June 10th match in Harrison, New Jersey. The Red Bull Arena is home to MLS side New York Red Bulls.

The test match, will take place a week before Ireland continue travelling west for a two-test series against Japan. Joe Schmidt's side meet the 2015 World Cup surprise package on June 17th and 24th. The matches will take place as many Irish players are expected to be in New Zealand for the Lions tour.

Both sides have played each other on eight occasions, with Ireland winning each time. The New Jersey match will be the second time in a row the teams have met. In 2015, Ireland won a tight clash 15-12 in Houston.

"It is great to be returning to the US," IRFU CEO Philip Browne told The Guardian. "The team received a fantastic reception in Chicago."

"There are a lot of Ireland rugby fans on the east coast of America and we hope that they will again come out in numbers to support the team this summer."

The last match between the teams, created one of the most stereotypical ads in recent memory. Poor Lucky!
