Another week, another superhero film casting rumour - and given that both Marvel and DC have revealed there are superhero films planned for many years yet, we can all expect that rumour mill to keep on spinning.
The latest casting possibility is quite intriguing, however. Suicide Squad is one of DC's upcoming features, due for release in 2016. It has been suggested that an iconic villain will be making an appearance - and one that is likely to give the film (based on a more obscure series than the likes of Batman or Superman) a good publicity boost.
Yes, The Wrap reports the Joker might be making an appearance in the film, and Jared Leto could be the one wearing the iconic face paint. Leto, of course, has enjoyed increased visibility recently thanks to his acclaimed and Oscar winning appearance in Dallas Buyers Club.
Leto has yet to be confirmed, with both Warner Bros and Leto's representatives declining to comment.
The casting of the next Joker will be of particular interest to comic book fans, especially given the late Heath Ledger's extraordinary performance as the character in The Dark Knight.
Suicide Squad is due for release in summer 2016, and will be directed by David Ayer (Fury). Tom Hardy and Will Smith are among the other names that have been rumoured in relation to the film.
