Former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri has been appointed as the new Greece coach.

The Italian has been without a job since leaving Monaco in May - a club he guided into the upcoming season's Champions League group stages.

He replaces Fernando Santos, whose contract with the Greek national team expired the day after their exit from the World Cup in Brazil.
